Read This Book!: 2017 Best Books To Give as Gifts Part 1

By December 19, 2017May 13th, 2021The Kerlan Blog

In the series of Read This Book! Our Librarians share the books that they love. We will be posting a series on books our librarians want to give and get on the holidays.

In this special episode, Alicia Kubas, Government Publications Librarian at the University of Minnesota is hoping that someone will take the hint and Santa will leave one of these under the tree. The first is a newly illustrated edition of the Lewis Carroll classic.

Acclaimed contemporary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama has reimagined Lewis Carroll’s classic Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Penguin Classic, 2012) in this playfully illustrated cloth-bound volume.

Alice Interior Spread, Penguin

and From Scratch: A Kitten’s First Book of Verse by Jennifer McCartney, published by Countryman Press;2016.

This is a delightful humorous volume of famous poems reimagined for the feline lovers in the family. Cats because of course cats. Clever poems paired with crisp photos. A delight.
